I retired in December 2013 after 25 years of headship in junior and primary schools in Croydon and Brighton.
I have worked as a consultant for Brighton and Hove on closing the gap strategies for pupils of colour and on recruitment of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic teachers.
I am a coordinator of a mentoring programme for students of colour at Brighton University.
I am currently contracted to deliver identity-based mentoring programmes between university students and pupils of colour in Sussex schools.
I have delivered mentoring training to Brighton and Sussex Police and am a member of the Sussex Police Race Advisory Group. I also deliver training on unconscious bias and equality and diversity to the private and public sector.
I work at the University of Brighton as the Mentoring Manager and Volunteering Manager. I also work as a freelance trainer and executive coach.
I oversee a range of mentoring programmes including identity-based programmes for students of colour, LGBT+ students and male primary teaching students. I’m a member of the Race Charter Mark Steering Group and I currently lead an EDI working group on anti-racist practice.
I deliver Unconscious Bias and Conscious Inclusion training to private and public sector organisations and charities. I create bespoke mentoring programmes for School, colleges, Universities and private sector organisations.
I was a Chair of Governors for 6 years and trustee of a small education charity. I am currently a mentor for 2 organisations.
